week 3

This week I worked on both my lip sync project and my game animation project so I tried my best to split my time evenly between them. This schedule worked out really well for me this week. One of the issues I was having previously was working on one project for hours and then loosing motivation to continue putting time into it the next day. With this set up I was able to re direct my focus to my second project and give my brain a short break while still being productive and getting things done.  The first half of what I worked on was my lip sync animation. This week I finished my first round of blocking. I would have liked to get a little more done on this throughout the week but I think I will be able to speed up my process throughout the semester as I get more comfortable and back into animating.  The other side of what I worked on was the rig for the Theifshroom character. This was my first time creating a full detailed biped rig so it was a process of trial and erro...

week 2

This week my main focus was to get started on my lip sync animation. First I spent a while finding rigs and comparing them. I wanted to find one that had all of the controls I needed without it being too complicated or difficult to animate with.    After I found a rig that I was happy with I wanted to become more familiar with it. In order to do that I started with the facial rig. I started moving around each controller and seeing what each of them did. Then I pulled up 2 reference pictures and tried to copy them on the models face to see if I could make it match the expression. From the expression tests I found that the face rig is easy to work with but has some clipping where you can see the inside of the mouth from different positions. I also learned that It is much easier to work with this model if you hide some of the controllers especially around the face because there are so many concentrated there that it is easy to miss click and move the wrong thing on accident. For ...

Post One: Planning This semester, my goal is to create animations and projects that can be added to my resume. I would like to complete a lip sync animation as well as a rig and animations for a project that I've been asked to be a part of.  The project that I've been hired for is a game called Fungi Frenzy that is being made by  Ashen Sky Studio , A company that is being created by a couple of Chico State Alumni. My priority for this semester will be finishing, at least, the rigs that I am asked to do as part of the game. With the fact that I don't know when I'm going to be given those models for rigging, I want to have another project that I can work on in the meantime and between tasks.  For my lip sync animation I want to use this clip of Brennan Lee Mulligan. I think it is a good length and has room for me to exaggerate on poses and gestures during the dialogue. If I am not done with the lip sync animation when I have other tasks ready to complete I will switch...
