week 3
This week I worked on both my lip sync project and my game animation project so I tried my best to split my time evenly between them. This schedule worked out really well for me this week. One of the issues I was having previously was working on one project for hours and then loosing motivation to continue putting time into it the next day. With this set up I was able to re direct my focus to my second project and give my brain a short break while still being productive and getting things done.
The first half of what I worked on was my lip sync animation. This week I finished my first round of blocking. I would have liked to get a little more done on this throughout the week but I think I will be able to speed up my process throughout the semester as I get more comfortable and back into animating.
The other side of what I worked on was the rig for the Theifshroom character. This was my first time creating a full detailed biped rig so it was a process of trial and error but I still had a lot of fun learning. This was a big challenge for me and I was really nervous about starting it but I think the biggest thing I learned from this process was that its easier than I was making it out to be in my head. The joints and controllers went together pretty smoothly and I learned a couple tricks that will make this process go faster and more streamlined in the future. The main part that I struggled with this week was weight painting. It was not only time consuming but I ran into some issues with the model that I couldn't really fix. I informed the modeler so they could avoid the same mistake in the future but for this model I just tried my best to find my way around it to avoid restarting the entire rig and pushing back the production timeline that drastically.
